Canada Removes Retaliatory Tariffs as U.S. Confirms CUSMA Protection

🇨🇦 Canada is removing many of its retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods.

The U.S. confirmed it won’t add new tariffs on Canadian products that follow the CUSMA deal, so Canada is matching by removing its own.

But tariffs on U.S. autos, steel, and aluminum stay in place.

PM Carney says this restores “free trade for the vast majority of our goods” and could push talks on a new Canada-U.S. trade & security deal forward.

Is this a smart play for long-term stability, or too soft a move?
